Hi Brian,

I shoot RAW and this always requires post processing, especially the sharpness. I make a determined effort to not change the color of the subject. I attempt to recreate what I saw in the feild. Occasionally I will increase the color saturation on a back lit image only to bring out the color in the image, but not very often.

The photo was sharpened some and then I reduced the size of the image. Sometimes this makes the colors a bit more intense. Since you had a question I went back and checked and the original and I only increased the exposure by 1/3 stop and the white balance was 5550K, which is what I use almost all the time.

I reset the original photos RAW process settings to reflect no changes to the exposure and have posted it here. Out side of it not being quite as bright and not as sharp there isn't a lot of difference.

The photo was taken early in the morning when natural light tends to be more orange, but as you can see I used a flash on this one since I was in the poorly lit hammock. Also Canon cameras tend to produce images with more saturation in the red part of the spectrum vs Nikon which tend to produce images with more saturation in the blue end.

So I'm not sure about this bird and what is standing out to you, but as I recall the bird had very nearly the same color in the field.
