There were over 1,000 shorebirds at Cutler Wetlands this afternoon, including a Wilson's Phalarope about 200 feet west of the gap just south of the No Dumping sign on 97th Ave. Other species included 300 Dowitchers, 500 peeps, >100 Yellowlegs, and dozens of Stilt, Pectoral, Semipalmated Plovers, and a few Killdeer. There was a Cooper's Hawk eating something when I spooked it right next to the 97th Ave. side.
With all the great shorebirds showing up like Baird's Sandpiper, Buff-breasted Sandpiper, and Wilson's Phalaropes, imagine what we'd be finding if this has been a "good" migration.
