After checking out the Alders at Lucky Hammock/Annex (there are at least four), I scanned the ag fields hoping to find a Grasspiper. It paid off. At the intersection of the main road into ENP (9336) and 202, I found a beautiful Buff-breasted Sandpiper about 100 feet in from the road. On the main road, just south of the Everglades Store, I parked on 202 Ave. and scanned the nearby fields. There is a short, row of dried weeds running parallel with the main road with a PVC strcture on it. The row of weeds then turn right and run perpendicular to the main road with two more smaller PVC structures. The Buff-breasted was feeding in the corner area near the PVC structures. There were two Killdeer and three Pectorals in the area as well. I didn't get close so as not to spook the birds, but just before I left the Killdeer took off and the Buff-breasted went with them. They flew towards the east in the direction of another field on the east side of the Everglades Store. The entire area between here and Benito Juarez Park should be checked since this is where Buff-breasteds have shown up before.

Cheers!
