Echoing Hawkers comments, these birds stay very much in and around the bullrush and high grass on the maintenance dikes. The Duck weed is very thick in the area and the birds are partly green from it sticking to them. There are two sets of babies. One family has eight babies and the other 7+ (Can't be exact as they came and went in the grass). Just about every bird in the area is after them. We saw a tri-color, mottled ducks, great heron, all approach the ducklings and were chased off by parents. There are also 7-10 other black bellied ducks hanging in the same area. This is the largest concentration of BB's I have seen in the Green Cay/Wako area. The great news is that hopefully these ducklings will mature and come back to the same area to nest. Green Cay may gain more fame as a nesting site than a beautiful water treatment plant.

The ramp area is accessible and watch for the weather shelters as they are few and far between.

This show is worth the trip. If you can, do a head count so we know if the babies are making it. Also watch for the solitary peeper and black neck stilts in the same area.

The wood framing on the guard rails is tighter than Wakodahatchee and most of our shots were 45 degrees down...that could be a problem. There is a minor angle turn at the point where the ducks gather for a "shoot backward." Point being, you are going to earn your credit line on this shoot.

Good luck friend
