Another excellent book recommendation

Another "must have" is Miami's own Brian Rapoza's new Falcon Guide entitled _Birding Florida_. It is newly available this month through Amazon (click TAS link) and American Birding Association (ABA online sales). Barnes and Noble carries it now, or will soon.

Brian put in several years (and many miles) of hard work on this bird finding guide and it is fabulous! The state is broken into 8 areas, each covered thoroughly. As a matter of fact, Brian personally visited and birded EVERY location at least 2-3 times! His directions are concise, accurate and easy to use. DeLorme pages and grids are listed for each section. Also, each location lists its specialty birds and the best time to visit.

His introduction is great -- he gives habitat overviews and regularly occurring birds in Florida. Each species account has its own shaded map of Florida. Vagrants are also included in a separate section.

Miami's own Trey Mitchell's photos grace the front and back covers and Larry Manfredi contributed many great photos to the text. In my opinion, this book is extremely user friendly and easy to carry. It is an excellent resource for Florida residents and visitors, alike.

Congratulations, Brian!
