On Sunday morning, August 12, I walked to "Mt. Schinus," the Hole-in-the-Donut restoration mound near Royal Palm in Everglades National Park. From atop the mound I saw an immmature Peregrine Falcon, along with a Least Bittern flying into the cattails below the mound. While walking back to my car along the Old Ingraham Highway, I saw a White-tailed Deer strolling through the marsh. A Cattle Egret was riding on its back. Every so often the egret would hop off to the ground, presumably to eat what the deer was stirring up. Then it would flap back onto the deer to continue its free ride.
