This morning my wife and I were on the way out the door when se spotted two swallows working the area over the parking lot. As we drove out we started to notice them everywhere we looked. On my way back home from driving my wife to work I stopped at the entrance to the parking lot and parked to watch the swallows. I looked up and noticed the swarm of swallows about 100 feet up, I started to count but there were to many. I stoped at 95 birds, but there were more. I waited for them to start comming closer for identification but was only able to see a couple of them a little closer. They were flying over the empty field behind our place and seemed to me that they were Martins but spoting no males I am unsure if they were female Martins or tree swallows. I was able to see their bluish purple coloration on the top side of the wings but both the Martins and T.Swallows have a similar coloration on top. I was looking to see if the tail was long or short in hope to identify but no luck.
As I am writing this it has started to rain so I will wait it out and take advantage of the time after the rain when the insects are abundant. Maybe I will be treated to a show while the swallows feed on the insects. I will check out the lake across the street in hope of identifying.

I wonder if they are in migration?
We saw the huge swarm of Martins earlier last month at the Davie roost, it coild be posible that they are on there way south.

Good luck birding everyone
