As I stepped out of my house a short time ago, I heard the Yellow-chevroned winged Parakeets sqawking in alarm.They had been feeding at my backyard feeders on and off during the day. I looked up and a Swallow-tailed Kite was gliding very low directly over the top of my house. What a exciting moment! The forked tail and the sharp contrast of the black edge around white was stunning! It glided directly over me, but I lost sight of it for a second or two because of the trees. Then I saw a group of about 20 Yellow-chevroned Winged parakeets flying westward, the Kite behind,but then it suddenly veered off to the east and was gone. I have never seen a S.T.K. in this area before. What a graceful glider!
