If we're going to make bishops and superb starlings countable, let's include the Nutmeg Mannakin/Spice Finch. I have a mob at my feeder everyday. At first they were cute, but now I have to refill my feeder each day and it's a pretty big feeder. They learn quickly. They used to spook when I would go restock the food, but now they just move away a few feet and look at me, and at times I get the impression their whining little calls are saying "hurry up, we're hungry." "Come on you worthless human, feed us." "You put the cap on wrong!!" What about the bird bath!!!" "Are you done? Ok then, leave!!" They laugh at me as I'm walking away. Now, if I'm going to be ridiculed by this tiny little bird, the least they could do is be countable.
They better watch it. With a name like that, they may just be tasty.
