So - you had success finding him? GREAT!
I didn't know about the green heron egg tragedy (I guess you mean the nest right at the entrance?) but after all, that was her second nesting, so this time the "insurance" eggs just did not pay out. She already raised two strapping herons this year.
Looking forward SO much to finding a migrant ...
