Nothing like Toe's wish list, but fun all the same. There are half a dozen not-full-but-nice-all-the-same-alternate plumaged Sanderlings about on Crandon Beach (south end). Thanks, Robin.
Another pleasant surprise was a pair of Piping Plovers. There are also scores of Least Terns about. One interesting behavior, which happened twice, was that the sanderlings were flushed by a killer Mourning Dove. I guess its long tail and rapid direct flight low over the sand made it look like a midget Merlin.
