Last week I went up for my school orientation in Pensacola... and drove there and back! However, what that meant was more time to see birds along the way, although I did the majority of the driving. I'm becoming a pro at watching birds and driving at the same time (just kidding guys). Anyway, here is a list of some of "the better" songs I saw based on my memory of the trip and taxonomic order. Hopefully I don't miss a good bird and put a hawk sighting before a warbler...

Canada Goose- Tallahassee
Swallow-tailed Kite
Mississippi Kite- 12
Cooper's Hawk
Red-shoulered Hawk
Red-tailed Hawk
Broad-winged Hawk
American Kestrel
Sandhill Crane
Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Common Ground-dove
Common Nighthawk
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
Red-headed Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Dairy Woodpecker- either a Downy or a Hairy seen briefly, though it looked big enough to be a Hairy
Eastern Wood-pewee- cool "campus bird"
Acadian Flycatcher
Great-crested Flycatcher
Eastern Kingbird
White-eyed Vireo
Red-eyed Vireo
Barn Swallow
Tufted Titmouse
Carolina Chickadee
Brown-headed Nuthatch- another cool campus bird, right outside of my dorm
Carolina Wren
Eastern Bluebird
Brown Thrasher
Northern Parula
Prothonotary Warbler
Louisiana Waterthrush- campus bird. I'll have to check next year to see if it breeds there or if it was a migrant
Summer Tanager- campus bird
Eastern Towhee
House Finch
