Speaking of Swallow-tailed Kites, here is a photo of one bird out of six in the farm fields of Homestead. I took this photo about two-days ago. I am not totally sure but I believe the bird is eating a caterpillar, parts of it can be seen falling as the bird is eating. I have zoomed in close and believe that it could be a Sphinx Moth caterpillar but again I am not sure.
About 30-years ago in the Golden Gate area East of Naples, we stumbled upon a stagging area of Swallow-tailed Kites that numbered about 75-birds. I have not seen that many in one area since, that is because I have not been really looking.
