A Sunday evening stroll along the banks of the Coral Gables Waterway(or whatever this canal is called) across the street from my home 2 blocks north of Red and Bird roads(SW 57 Ave and SW 40 Street)revealed this fellow, who obligingly flew across the canal to briefly pose for my much too short 70 mm lens, which resulted in this enlarged image. In the year I've lived at this address, and frequented the stretch of the canal on the East side of Red Road, this is the first Night Heron I have seen here. When last observed, the bird was headed east, toward the Biltmore Country Club, probably for a spa treatment ..
