Hello,

I was in Miami for work early this week and had some time mid-day Tuesday 6/26/07 to make a quick trip down to the Everglades N.P. I didn't expect much at this time of day/year, but when I got to the visitor center near the park entrance I was told that there had just been a report of a SHINY COWBIRD (or multiple birds?) at the Flamingo parking lot (the log book gave the name Rod Gardner if I remember correctly). I headed down there and, after searching through a flock of 34 BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS and a Starling, found a male SHINY COWBIRD. This was on the lawn just west of the visitor center (to the right as you look at the building).

I got some marginal pictures, including one of the bird in flight with a Brown-headed Cowbird, that I will send to Bill Pranty.

Also of possible interest was an immature Cooper's Hawk in Kendall low over the northbound Highway 826 onramp (at about SW 98th Street).
