This RFI that was sent to me and seemed worthy of posting:

--------------------------------

Birders, this is a request for information.

I have designed a new web site. This web site has the goal of being the central index for low-impact birding locations world wide, and is a service for birders who have limitations in mobility or endurance, varying from moderate limitations to birders who use wheelchairs. I need contact information for sites where the walking is easy, and also for sites that have at least some significant wheelchair access. There is some excellent information on various web sites, but it is often hard to locate, and not all low-impact birding locations are covered. I do not intend to describe each site, but to direct the birder to a web address where they can get more information. Please see my web site, www.comfortablebirdingforall.com, on the navigation bar, click on U.S. sites, then browse to see what I am doing.

If you can give me even just one location it would be a great service to birders.

What I would like from you is the following:

1. Names of easy, low-impact birding locations.
2. State and closest town to the birding location.
3. Web address connected with the location or a phone number if you have them (so the birders can check trail details, current conditions, and directions to the site). If you can not find the web address or phone number, I will research it.
4. Please indicate, from your knowledge of the trails:
W--The site has some wheelchair accessible trails
E--easy, low-impact trails (for instance; imagine yourself using a cane and tiring easily)
D--the site can be birded from a car
(If you are uncertain about the extent of accessibility, I can check it out)
5. Also, if you know of a guide or tour company that is willing to take a birder's limitations into consideration, I would appreciate that contact information.

Please send the information to EZbirdingadventures@comfortablebirdingforall.com
I would appreciate it if you would pass this request through the birding world.

Thank you ever so much,

Darlene Smyth
