The dark morph is supposed to be more common in Florida. During the last 3 years I have kept track of which forms I've seen (most of them in Miami-Dade or ENP). The light morphs have a very slight edge (52%).

: Is the dark-morph or the light-morph Short-tailed Hawk more common? I believe Sibley says that in Florida the dark morph. Do you guys see more dark than light where you are?
