My wife Emily was halfway out the door this morning at about 7:45 when she rushed back in and yelled upstairs to me that there was an "avian event" occuring in what passes for our front yard. I rushed outside to see the bird illustrated here being dive bombed by the local mockingbirds and an occasional jay. I ran back upstairs to get my camera to record the kamikaze goings on, only to have my lens fog up from the condensation from the rapid temperature change from air conditioning to humid June air. By the time I got the condensation removed, the dive bombers had gone, so I had no other subject left but the hawk.Is this a juvenile red shouldered???
