At about 1730 today I visited Cutler Wetlands. It was with a light drizzle and very gray. I parked at 224th street entrance noting quite a few Black-necked Stilts standing in the water.Upon getting out of the car they immediately became alarmed with 8-10 calling and flying in circles around me. After walking a few feet down the road to my suprise one of them landed on the yellow line in the center of the road and plopped itself down glaring at me. It sat there until a large truck coming around the corner sent it flying. There were a few Killdeers not too pleased at my intrusion either. About this time I noted a bird I had never seen before soaring fairly high above. Having reviewed my field guide book the night before, I knew it was the Night-hawk. It stayed at least 35 - 40 min. The Black-bellied Whistling Ducks were not there. I walked to the outer edge of the Wetlands on S.W 97th ave. The Black-necked Stilts weren't happy till I left! Other Birds: Tri-colored Heron,Great White Heron,Wood Storks, many Kildeer,Common Moorhens,Coots,Red-winged Blackbirds,Grackles,Least Terns,White Ibis,Glossy Ibis
