The largest flock that I have seen is nine birds in the same tree in South Miami. This was about 7-years ago, I have not seen that many together since. I did have a flock of seven birds in the center of US1 and about Ponce? They were chewing on the Royal Palm leaves during morning rush hour, this was about 2002? I have some photos of those birds. I have seen them from Coconut Grove to the north all the way to at least s.w. 112 st. to the south. There used to be a lady that had them coming to feeders in Coral Cables just off Sunset Dr. east of s.w. 57 ave. The lady moved so I guess the birds have found other feeders. She used to put whole peanuts on the feeders. I have seen a pair of birds in Coconut Grove attempting to nest in a dead Royal Palm this was in the late 80's, I don't think they had any young.

It is possible the the birds that are missing could be attempting to nest some where near by which is why they are not being seen.

Here is a photo of a couple of birds eating palm fruit in Pinecrest from a couple of years ago.
