Urban Bobwhite

Hi y'all!

On June 1, I spied a male Bobwhite quail on 31st Ave in Ft. Lauderdale (properly Oakland Park). This area is quite urban, with seemingly no appropriate habitat for this species. And yet here it was. The area borders a canal that has gone to seed on the side away from the road, but even here the habitat is severely limited. I have photos, if anyone would like them. The bird was moving in the shrubbery around a condo complex.

I know this bird is on the Borward county list, and there is certainly habitat to the west. Can anyone comment on this sighting, and the possibility of these birds colonizing urban habitat?
