While walking around my neighborhood this morning I heard an American Redstart singing. With a little work, I tracked it down, finding a young male (orangish yellowstart with scattered black marks on breast).
Although I knew they are sometimes seen locally in June, this was a first for me. Since I've twice seen them in July (earliest was July 29), it makes American Redstart a 12-month bird. I.e., one that I've seen in Miami-Dade in all 12 months of the year.
