The rain and east winds from last night caused a good amount of late migrants to "fall out", and it was quite evident this afternoon when I finally got out of bed.
Eating breakfast outside (even though it was a little after lunch time), I noticed a flock of about ten warblers in my yard. It consisted of only Blackpoll Warblers and female American Redstarts.
On the way to Lincoln Road, I noticed a juvenile Northern Gannet flying right along the edge of Biscayne Bay, where Julia Tuttle bends towards the golf course. Obviously a bird blown in by the winds.
And while sitting at a table right in the middle of Lincoln Road Mall, I noticed quite a few warblers. Blackpoll and Black-throated Blue Warblers, American Redstarts, and even a male Common Yellowthroat fed in the trees just above us. My apple juice was almost contaminated even by the droppings of a Blackpoll Warbler.
