It turns out it's not a Hairy Woodpecker, but a Downy with the largest bill I've ever seen. I'd say the bird looks bigger than a Downy, but the difference in size could be just the difference in seeing it up in a slash pine and seeing it 12 feet away while you drink a beer in your pool. Wait, I wonder if that beer had something to do with it? Oh well, sorry for the false alarm, it was fun while it lasted.
The Spot-breasted Orioles and Shiny Cowbird are still valid, pending further verification of course.
