Went early this morning to see the Avocets at Eco pond and we were not disappointed! There's still at least 8 or more in the pond itself and in watery areas in the coastal prairie right behind Eco pond. While watching the Avocets and Black-necked Stilt in a flooded area behind the pond, we discovered a Wilson's Phalarope swimming around with them! It is in breeding plumage and appeared to be the only one at the time. What an unexpected treat. Another visiting birder from Denmark was there to enjoy all the action going on too.
The following species were seen this morning at Eco Pond:
Avocet
Black-necked Stilt
Dunlin
Tricolored Heron
Wilson's Phalarope(1)
Greater Yellowlegs
Great-crested Flycatcher
Red-bellied Woodpecker
American Cardinals
Great Blue Heron

We made a few other stops, the only notable sighting was four Swallow-tailed Kites soaring around over the roadway! Always a treat to see!
