While the numbers and variety of warblers seen at H. T. Birch State Park today were only a pale reflection of what was there a week ago, they were surprisingly numerous considering the late date.
Warblers seen on 5/18/07 at H. T. Birch State Park:
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 3
Blackpoll Warbler - 8
American Redstart - 12
Ovenbird - 1
Common Yellowthroat - 15
Other non-resident birds and birds of interest seen:
Cooper's Hawk - 1
Chimney Swift - 6
Gray Kingbird 1
A quick drive around the power lines south of Old Griffin Road early this afternoon turned up one Smooth-billed Ani.
