Hi Doug,
We were at ENP on Sunday May 6th. The bugs were not the worst but not the best we have experienced. We were at the Long Pine Key campground lake where the birding was good. We observed a pair of Bluebirds eating insects together and then defending there territory. The bugs were out though.
Where do you usually hike in ENP?

Here is a list of birds that we saw.
5 Cardinals (male)
3 Females
2 Eastern Tohee (male)
2 Eastern Bluebirds (male)
1 Females
1 Swallow Tail Kite
2 Red-Bellied Woodpeckers (male)
1 Female (Heard others)
6 Pine Warblers
5 American Crows
1 White Eyed Vireo
1 Great Crested Flycatcher
and heard many others around but did not stay long. We spent about an hour and a half at the lake.
