Went to Matheson Hammock this morning. My first time birding there. Started off with a noisy Pileated Woodpecker (which I had only seen once before in Collier County-exciting bird for me)as soon as I got out of my car. Then saw:
Purple Martin
Great Blue Heron
White Ibis
Redstarts (females)
Black-Throated Blue Warbler (male and female)
Yellowthroat (male)
Cape May Warbler (male)
Cardinals (with young also)
Hill Mynahs
Red-Bellied Woodpecker
Yellow-Chevroned Parakeet
Lilac-Crowned Parrot (a pair is nesting in a hole in a Royal Palm)
Hispaniolan Parrots (2 flying overhead) Lifer for me
And the usual doves, grackles and starlings
