A female Western Spindalis was observed Saturday, April 28, ~6:30pm by myself and Pinya Cohen while we were mistnetting at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.

It was first spotted within a few feet of the boardwalk in a Gumbo Limbo tree, on intracoastal portion of the loop trail. It then flew over our heads between some other fruiting trees before landing again in a tree a few feet from the boardwalk. It stayed around ~5 minutes before flying across the trail missing a mistnet by about 3ft!

It was observed again today at 9:30am by Pinya Cohen and Brian Hope close to the eastern side of the boardwalk loop.

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is in Boca Raton on Route A1A (1801 N. Ocean Blvd) north of Palmetto Park Rd and south of Spanish River Blvd. It is open 7 days a week and is free to the public.
