I just returned from Lodi, CA and had the opportunity to do some birding at Lodi Park. Lodi is located about 30 miles south of Sacramento. Spring is late out there, so it was cool and windy. Some of the stuff we saw on 4/21 were:
Wood ducks
Bushtits
Oak Titmouse
House finches (red & yellow var.)
Goldfinches
Anna's hummingbird
Western Bluebirds
Nuttal's Woodpecker
Hairy Woodpecker
California towhee
Spotted towhee
Gold Crowned Sparrow
White Crowned Sparrow
Marsh Wren
Bewick's Wren
American Bittern
Cinnamon Teal
Pied Billed Grebe
Yellow Billed Magpie
Tree Swallows
Black headed Phoebe
Cliff Swallows
Mallards
Western Meadowlark
lots of Scrub Jays
We also saw some of the birds we see here, such as Snowy Egrets, Great blue & Green Herons, Red-tailed Hawks, and even a Mockingbird. It was fun & I added quite a few birds to my list. If I had more time, I could have observed more as the weather was getting warmer.
