Inspired by Bryant's success with shorebirds, I took a shorter but no less motivated foray to Cutler Wetlands this afternoon. I was rewarded by three White-rumped Sandpipers very near the north edge of the wetlands on 224 St. Just park in front of the opening in the grass, about 100 ft east from the fenced facility. The White-rumpeds were on the edge of the mud flats with other peeps. The place has a lot of shorebids, including Semipalmated Plovers, Least and Semipalmated Sandpipers, both Yellowlegs, Short-billed Dowitchers, one each Spotted and Solitary Sandpipers, and of course the White-rumpeds. John and Trey showed-up while I was there. I tried very hard to turn some of the Semipalmated Sandpipers into Westerns, but John didn't let me. Next time, I'll make sure he's not watching when I try it.

Cutler Wetlands are located where SW 224 St. turns into 97th Ave. Take the Turnpike to SW 216th street and go east. Turn right on Old Cutler Road and left onto 224 St. The wetlands will be on your right on 224 St. after passing the apartment complex. You can park on a small gravel area on the side of the road.
