Hello, Birders. A possible ZENAIDA DOVE and 2 possible WESTERN SPINDALIS were reported today. Although i did not personally see these birds, i spoke at length with the finders, and make this report with their permission. Gene and Maxine Cartwright, visiting birders from Tennessee, found a ZENAIDA DOVE at Pennekamp State Park, perched in mangroves and seen from the winding boardwalk path into the mangroves. They also reported 2 (TWO) separate WESTERN SPINDALIS, one at A.D. Barnes and one at Crandon Park. At A.D. Barnes, they saw a SPINDALIS from the path to the left of the Nature Center as you face the center from the parking area. At Crandon Park, they saw a SPINDALIS in mangroves (i am uncertain about the mangroves part, but i believe they said this one was in mangroves), and advised taking the Bike Path to the Boardwalk, and then taking the Boardwalk all the way to the end, where they had the second Spindalis at this second location. ... REPORT FROM THIS MORNING FROM MAHOGANY HAMMOCK AT EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK: saw the following this morning: 2 Barred Owls (adult attending Juvenile), Yellow-billed Cuckoo being harassed by a Great-Crested Flycatcher, Vireos: 2 (two) BLUE-HEADED VIREOS, a red-eyed, and several white-eyeds. Warblers: WORMEATING, male BLACKTHROATED GREEN, prothonotary, 3 (three)Tennessee, female blackandwhite, male blackpoll. Good Birding. -ken archambault
