I stopped by Barnes today.
As soon as I got out of the car, I spotted my first Scarlet tananger. then I saw his 2 male companions sitting in the same tree. 2 eastern kingbirds diverted my attention to a yellow billed cuckoo, who then flew over to a female scarlet tananger sitting demurely in the powderpuff tree.
The world's smallest cedarwaxwings,a group of six or so, kept me busy for a few minutes.
Walking towards the locked gate, I heard and then saw many cedarwaxwings in the slash pine by the pavilion and fig tree. These guys were normal size and singing up a storm. One was even courting another.
heading to the gate, a pair of brown thrashers pointed the way to bl&wh(s) ,prairies, myrtle and summer tananger.
