All:

Quite a few of the winter birds had moved on at STA-5 in Hendry County south of Clewiston this past Saturday, April 14th, 2007. Nonetheless, the 28 or so intrepid birders, photographers and observers, led by yours truly, Alan Murray and Margaret England still managed to see some nice birds as usual. Highlights were a late American Wigeon and only the second record (for STA-5) of a Swallow-tailed Kite seen by most folks. A full list will follow.

On the drive out to STA-5 from Naples, Alan Murray and I found a few birds at the nearly dried-out "ponds" near the Seminole Casino in Immokalee: Wood Stork, Long-billed Dowitcher, Least Sandpiper, both yellowlegs, Sandhill Crane, Mottled Duck, Killdeer and a few others. The CR846-to-CR833-CR835-to-Blumberg Rd.-to-STA-5 route turned up the "usual" Crested Caracara, Limpkin, Eastern Meadowlark, Sandhill Crane and a lone Roseate Spoonbill being the highlights.
