Paul,
I saw a Least Bittern in what sounds like the very same clump of reeds last Tuesday. Must've been the parent. On my return, after taking a walk around the loop, I saw it flying around some bushes on the opposite side of the boardwalk right around where the slope ends. I couldn't see into the reeds because of the angle, but they nest may be there (if not in the first clump mentioned).
