I was there last Sunday with a friend and we saw the large Amazona parrot. It was not easy to see, it never moved from one spot near the top of an Australian pine. It's head was mostly yellow (but not entirely, the throat and breast appeared green). I think it was one of the Central American Yellow-Headed Amazon sp. I couldn't distinguish any blue on the forehead, if so it could have been one of the South American species. (you know they all are similar, inc. immatures) We did notice a small amount of orange around the shoulder, if it helps. My opinion is that it is a recent escape. Of the several types of parrots in that part of Miami Beach, I never noticed one like this before. It was also making a few 'childlike' squacks, only a few, it was very quiet. Hope to get a better look next time.
