Jogging in Doral area this morning, 7.05AM, I stopped when I heard a distinctive call, which resembled (in voice character of bee-eater and lesser ringed plover). After a while I saw the bird flying around, repeating this call in intervals of a few seconds. It had a very long rounded tail and the flight was similar to a night-jar. A couple of times I also clearly saw a white band on the primaries. Coming home I checked the voice on Petersons multimedia CD, and the call of the Pauraque certainly matched the call I heard perfectly. The observation was at the golf course opposite (south of) John I Smith Elementary School. At first the bird was probably on the ground on the north side of the small lake. It was still flying around over this grass field when I left.
