My family and I just returned from Disney World. One of the highlights was yesterday, while taking the launch from Fort Wilderness to the Magic Kingdom, we noticed a Bald Eagle eating his breakfast. He was fending off about a dozen vultures that roost in the area on the south side of the defunct Discovery Island. It was a totally unexpected moment.
On other notes, while staying at Fort Wilderness, I was shocked by the strange behavior of the birds. While having breakfast, any dropped food was quickly, I mean quickly, scavenged by a red-bellied woodpecker. Distance was no object. He would fly down, look at you for a minute, pick up his prize and fly away.
Lots of cardinals, cat birds and warblers everywhere!
