Woke up at 11:17, checked the bird board, begged my dad for five minutes, and was out by 11:36.
Managed to get the mockingbird right where Montel Stickel said it would be. It skulked for a bit in the Brazilian Red Peppers, but eventually showed for three of us by sitting about fifteen feet away on an exposed branch. Crippling looks (thats the half-English in me speaking) at an awesome bird.
There was also evidence of migration at the cemetery. Chimney Swifts circled overhead, a Yellow-billed Cuckoo showed up, and there were a couple warblers around:
Northern Parula
Prairie Warbler
Palm Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Swainson's Warbler- along canal in middle of cemetery. Thanks Mark
Worm-eating Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
I could have sworn I heard a Louisiana Waterthrush, but the mockingbird was a bit more interesting.
