I just saw a post of Common Nighthawks in St. Pete. This is the 34th species that shows up in central or north Florida before it is seen down here. Since these species winter down south, they have to pass US before they get up north. Are they flying so high we can't see them? Maybe in the upper stratosphere? Have they taken "Toe Avoidance" lessons from Nashville Warblers? Maybe they are just flying over us at night. Where's Alex when you need him?
