While others, such as Robin, have been swatting them away like mosquitoes this winter, I had yet to come across a BCFL. I finally had one while doing some Brown-headed Nuthatch work in Long Pine Key yesterday. It was along the road between Research Road and the road to Royal Palm, a bit north of the old fire road with the bent gate.
Nuthatches are already incubating in LPK, more than a week earlier than normal, which bodes well for their breeding success this year.
