I walked Sadowski this morning and found only one interesting bird. I was standing near the tool shed near the feeders and was looking through a bush into another bush when I saw what I thought was a female Painted Bunting. All I saw was the head at first then the bird moved a little exposing a black/very dark wing with a bright white wing bar. Just then a Cardinal flew into the bush and the bird I saw flew into the hammock.
I spent about 30 minutes looking for the bird without success.
Now me being a novice I began thinking oriole, but when I returned to my van and looked in the guides I realized that it couldn't be an oriole because the bill on the bird I saw wasn't slender and pointed, but like a bunting or grosbeak.
I now believe it was a female Western Tanager. I hope someone else is able to locate the bird and confirm this. I don't know that I can look for it again this evening, but will try if work doesn't get in the way.
Nothing much else at the park except Yellow Rump and a few Palms.
