Walking on Long Beach Rd at 4 p.m.I scared 4 small black ducks- 2 males, 2 females that were in a small pond. After getting home I looked them up in my 2 field guides. They seem to be pretty rare down here. Drive from Key West toward Miami, take the last right you can before leaving BPK, at the Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge. That is Long Beach Rd. Go about a half mile, just before the big bend in the road. There is a small-in-height speed bump in the road a short distance before the bend. Just to the left of the road at the speed bump is a small pond. The ducks were right at the bank/treeline.
