In response to Bill's comment about eBird being unmoderated, I myself have been contacted 2 times by reps from ebird about sightings I've posted in NJ. One was a Carolina Chickadee in the Northern part of the state, which was just an error on my part and one was for a Western Tanager seen in Western NJ. In both instances I was asked to document it with a photograph if possible. ebird was given a photo of the WETA and was appreciative. I believe they are overwhelmed by the data but are sorting through it all as best they can. It has to be an extremely time consuming ordeal though.
