I spent some time this morning with two other birders in Brian Womble's backyard in Naples hoping to see the Western Tanager.
We didn't see the tanager, but did count 21 species, two of which were lifers to me and one , the SWTKS that were either a life bird or a North american life bird for the other folks.
Then I stopped at Corkscrew hoping to find the nuthatch. Saw lots of other great things, including this banded painted bunting and a very odd looking muddy yellowgreenish bird that must be a bunting but sure didn't look like any I have seen in the last 8 years of bunting watching.
Kirby Storter was active with downy woodpeckers, carolina wrens, tufted titmice,bl and wh warbler, pine warbler, probable parula and a crow sitting on a big nest. No bluebirds tho.
Snail kite on the trail too.
But best were the 8 SWTKS seen thru out the day.

Really , I don't go looking for banded birds......
