Wow, what an apology...

Another cool story that shows that even the best of the birding community can make mistakes. I love hearing the stories. It helps us novice birders not feel so bad when we really goof one up.

I went looking for the House Finch this evening after seeing the post by Larry for Brian. I was unsuccessful in my attempt to find the Finch. I did however find most of the birds Brian mentioned in his post. It was almost impossible to take any photographs of birds due to the game of Laser Tag, kids on bikes and joggers through the Hammock. But that didn't stop me from using my binoculars to see:

Cedar Waxwings
Hermit Thrush - near the observation deck in the hammock
Blue Headed Vireo
Northern Parula
Black Throated Blue
Yellow Rump (many)
Pine Warbler
Red Start
Orange Crowned
Palm
Common Yellow Throat
Tufted Titmouse
Phoebe
Possible- male Nashville - I had a poor look, in poor lighting. I saw it from underneath so all I saw was yellow on the belly and when it looked down at me I saw a darker head and a white eye-ring. As soon as I pulled up my camera, bikers rode through making all kinds of noise and the bird flew. I saw it near the small shelter in the hammock up in the Oak tree.

Thanks for the report Brian, it got me out of the house for a nice walk and a few good birds. I wish I would have seen the House Finch, but I neither heard it nor saw anything like it.

Maybe next time...
