Short-tailed Hawk- Loxahatchee NWR

Hello All,

I am not a TAS member, and have never posted here before, but I thought that a sighting of a Short-tailed Hawk may be of interest to some on this board. If this is not of interest, please excuse this post.

Today I spent about 6 hours walking around Loxahatchee and spotted a number of beautiful birds. While I was nearing the end of my trip I spotted a Short-tailed Hawk (light morph) soaring above the area near the restrooms in the Marsh Trail parking lot, at 11:30. When I first spotted the hawk it was low enough to get a few grab shots, but then caught a thermal and within a few seconds was very high and out of site.
