A tip of the hat to S.P. McCool for alerting me (and all of us here on the TAS Miami Bird Board) to a Western Tanager that has been frequenting the yard and feeders of the Wombles in the Golden Gate Estates east of Naples in Collier County. This bird has been present since about the 12th of February and remains as of today. Brian and his wife welcome birders who wish to see this bird but they ask that folks first contact them as to when they want to come to see it. It is there early in the morning (7:30-9:00AM for sure) and then later in the afternoon. It may be present all day but since the Wombles work, they aren't sure if it is.
