Cutler Wetlands is located at SW 224 St. where it becomes 97th Ave. in Cutler Ridge. Take the Turnpike to SW 216th street and go east. Turn right on Old Cutler Road and left onto 224 St. The wetlands will be on your right on 224 St. after passing the apartment complex. There is a small retention pond on the north side of 224St that will have birds sometimes, and a large lake, with some retention areas in between, to the east which has Hooded Mergansers. The edge of the wetlands now has large exotic grasses obstucting most of the view. You can park on the north side by the fence, but most of the birds yesterday were observed from the east side about 100 yards after the curve. There is a spot where the grass has a gap. The birds were in a wet area just in front of this gap. Enter carefully to avoid spooking the birds, especially the ducks.
