Woke up way too late to do some morning birding today, which may be just as well since it was pouring. I settled with an afternoon trip to some more local spots hoping to see the Buffleheads and Gadwalls that have been reported recently. Long story short, I missed both. However, I did see a few birds worth noting...
Black Point-
Pied-billed Grebes- noted because they seemed to be everywhere out there
Yellow-crowned Night-heron
Red-breasted Mergansers- several
Semipalmated Plover
Least Sandpiper
Lesser Black-backed Gull
Northern Parula
Prairie Warbler
Palm Warbler
Yellow-throated Warbler
Common Yellowthroat

I then headed to the Dump Marsh ponds. By now the drizzle had sort of picked up into a light rain. Maybe they are the same thing, but you know what I mean. There were plenty of Pied-billed Grebes and American Coots, along with some American White Pelicans and Wood Storks, but few ducks in the northeast pond. Just two Blue-winged Teals and two Northern Shovelers.

The western pond held more of the same, as well as four Black-necked Stilts.

It was getting late, so I swung by Cutler Wetlands very briefly. There I picked up both Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs.

I had hoped to swing by A.D. Barnes to get Hermit Thrush, but I had to run some errands before the Super Bowl.

My year list for my "Three-hundred Year" stands at 172. Three-hundred is a real possibility, especially since I am looking at colleges mostly in the Panhandle and North Florida.
